The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) describes an A2 learner as a basic user of English, i.e. those able to communicate in everyday situations with commonly-used expressions and elementary vocabulary. The CEFR is a globally recognized language system that defines and explains what language learners should be able to do in English, i.e. speaking, writing, listening, and reading. The CEFR consists of 6 levels of reference: three blocks (A or basic user, B or independent user and C or proficient user), which are in turn divided into two sub-levels, 1 and 2.
The pre-intermediate step-by-step curriculum is designed to continuing building confidence and motivation so that learners can communicate in English. The A2 level is broken up into two courses (A2.1 , A2.2, A3.3) of 6 units and 18 lessons each for a total of 72 academic hours.
